How to Adapt to Society 5.0 and its development, including learning and developing some essential entrepreneurial skills

Santiago:

In order to adapt to Society 5.0, I think an individual should keep a pragmatic stance towards new technologies, as well as maintaining its critical thinking. I would make emphasis in AI since this is probably one of the biggest technological milestones of our era.

What differentiates a human from an AI model, is having life objectives, general knowledge and adaptability to change. Thus, what makes a human irreplaceable with an AI is that an AI cannot (or at least should not) possess the ability to think and feel like a human: Humans are the ones who take the lead, while machines allow them to increase productivity and life standards. In this way, it is important for an individual in Society 5.0 to stay competent and valuable, acquiring a wide range of skills and knowledge, in order to avoid itself to be surpassed by emerging technologies.

An example in this would be in the programming field: An AI under with good dataset for a specific programming language can easily leave a human programmer obsolete. However, if that individual acquires the capacity to use the AI in its favour and combine it with other technologies in a smart way, it will increase its productivity exponentially, as well as amplifying its capabilities and making itself more competent. The programmer is not a mechanical process; therefore, it must always take the lead, adapting to new tools such as AI.

Nway:

To adapt to Society 5.0 and its development, I believe it’s crucial to integrate cutting-edge technologies into our daily lives and business practices. My approach would involve:

  • Staying Technologically Informed: I will keep myself updated with the latest advancements and understand how they can be applied to improve efficiency and innovation in my entrepreneurial endeavours.

  • Prioritizing Sustainability: I will ensure that my business strategies are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals to contribute positively to societal and environmental well-being.

  • Encouraging Creativity: I will foster a culture of creativity within my team to solve unique challenges and create value in innovative ways.

  • Building a Super-Smart Society: I will focus on developing solutions that leverage AI and big data to minimize waste and enhance the quality of life.

  • Developing Entrepreneurial Skills: I will continuously work on honing skills such as financial literacy, networking, and adaptive thinking, which are essential for navigating the complexities of modern business landscapes.

  • Committing to Lifelong Learning: I will engage in ongoing education to stay abreast of changes and advancements, ensuring that my skills and knowledge remain relevant.

  • Expanding My Network: I will actively seek out and cultivate a strong network of professionals who can provide mentorship, support, and collaborative opportunities.

By adopting these strategies, I aim to contribute to the creation of a society that balances technological progress with human-centric values and sustainable practices.

To thrive in an entrepreneurial society such as Society 5.0, individuals must gain essential entrepreneurial skills. Entrepreneurship education is important in providing individuals with the skills needed for success. Slišāne and Oļesika (2022) emphasize the importance of cultivating creativity, invention, and practical problem-solving skills for long-term societal innovation.

Entrepreneurial skills encourage not just individual achievement, but also national socio-economic development (Pertuz & Miranda, 2021). Individuals are able to acquire the skills, attitudes, and behaviours required to navigate the dynamic terrain of Society 5.0 by establishing an entrepreneurial mindset in them through education. Entrepreneurial thinking and action are widely acknowledged as critical competencies for generating innovation and adapting to the digital revolution of the economy and society (Mueller, Berger, & Gutzwiller-Helfenfinger, 2021)

University training programs that focus on acquiring entrepreneurial and transversal employability skills are essential for preparing individuals to succeed in today's societies and contribute to sustainable development agendas. These programs aim to enhance students' abilities to innovate, adapt to change, and contribute meaningfully to society (Laguna-Sánchez, Abad, Fuente-Cabrero, & Calero, 2020)
